The lawsuits, which have recently come to light via Bloomberg’s reporting, shed light on alleged misconduct within the organization.

Joyce Rosely Lawsuit:

Joyce Rosely, one of the former employees, filed a lawsuit on August 8 in New Jersey against Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive Asset Management, and co-founder Anson Frericks. Rosely’s claims are multi-faceted:

She alleges that she was terminated from her position as co-head of institutional sales after raising concerns about an executive who was reportedly making inappropriate sexual advances towards a junior staff member at the firm. She also voiced concerns about potential violations of securities laws.

Rosely claims that she was coerced by Ramaswamy and Frericks into utilizing sales materials that promised customers future returns, a practice that contravenes securities laws. Additionally, she asserts that unregistered employees were encouraged to make sales pitches to clients, which is also a violation.

She took issue with Ramaswamy’s social media posts, believing they constituted illegal securities sales.

John Phillips Lawsuit

Another former employee, John Phillips, filed a separate lawsuit in June against Vivek Ramaswamy and Strive Asset Management. Phillips’ claims include:

He states that he was enticed to join Strive Asset Management based on misleading assurances that the company possessed robust financing. Moreover, he alleges that Ramaswamy, who subsequently left the company to pursue his presidential campaign, falsely indicated his dedication to the firm.

Phillips contends that Ramaswamy misrepresented the company’s financial health to both employees and investors.

Similar to Rosely, Phillips alleges that he faced pressure from the company to engage in activities that would violate securities laws.

Terminations and Retaliation

Both Rosely and Phillips were terminated from their positions in March. John Phillips asserts that his termination was unjustified, while Rosely’s dismissal was purportedly part of a broader company restructuring aimed at removing older employees. Rosely, in addition to claiming retaliation for misconduct-related complaints, also alleges age discrimination.

Revelation from Rosely’s Complaint

An aspect of Rosely’s complaint revealed that she reported instances of sexual harassment to co-founder Anson Frericks. Allegedly, Frericks dismissed her concerns, stating that the matter was “none of his business.”

Vivek Ramaswamy Significant Insight

Christopher Lenzo, legal counsel for Rosely, has introduced a crucial perspective. Lenzo suggests that Ramaswamy’s primary focus in establishing Strive Asset Management might not have been effective asset management. Instead, he posits that the company could have been primarily established as a public relations tool for Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign, with limited consideration for its functioning as a genuine investment firm.

Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur and a conservative commentator who has cast himself as the “true outsider” seeking the GOP nomination. His campaign has been largely self-funded. Ramaswamy has said that he plans to take Trump’s agenda “even further.”

Vivek Ramaswamy known for his accomplishments in the business sector, embarked on a journey into the Republican presidential primary, citing his business acumen and achievements as qualifications for the presidency. He founded Roivant, a pharmaceutical development company, in 2014 and served as its CEO until 2021. Afterward, he co-founded Strive Asset Management with Anson Frericks, with the explicit goal of creating a counter-narrative to the trend of socially and environmentally responsible investing.
