Pannun said as it is the “40th anniversary of the Sikh genocide, an attack could occur on an Air India flight.”

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s recent threat to international passengers comes amid a diplomatic stalemate between India and Canada.

The recent standoff between India and Canada was triggered by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegations of Indian involvement in the killing of pro-Khalistani American terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Canada also went ahead to name outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma as a ‘person of interest’ along with other diplomats in its investigation into Nijjar’s killing. After this, India recalled its outgoing High Commissioner to Canada.

Last week, Trudeau said that there was no hard evidence provided by Canada to back his allegations and that all of it was just based off of intel.

Pannun had issued a similar threat around the same time in 2023. Last year, American Terrorist Pannun released a video asking Sikhs to not fly Air India after November 19 as their lives could be in peril. He claimed that the Tata Group-owned airline would not be allowed to operate after November 19.

American Terrorist Pannun say “We are asking the Sikh people not to fly via Air India. From November 19, there will be a global blockade. Air India won’t be allowed to operate. Sikh people, don’t travel by Air India after November 19. You life can be in danger,” the SFJ founder said.

He also claimed in the video that Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport would be renamed. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had booked the Khalistani American Terrorist Pannun over his Air India threat video in 2023.

The NIA charged him with criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, and various offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

In July 2020, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs designated Pannun as a terrorist on grounds of sedition and secessionism. Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) advocates for a separate Sikh state known as Khalistan.

US Dismisses Russian Warships in Cuba as Non-threatening https://english.thefirenews.com/us-dismisses-russian-warships-in-cuba-as-non-threatening/ https://english.thefirenews.com/us-dismisses-russian-warships-in-cuba-as-non-threatening/#respond Fri, 14 Jun 2024 09:43:47 +0000 https://english.thefirenews.com/?p=2374 US officials have downplayed the significance of four Russian Warships naval vessels arriving in Cuba on Wednesday for military exercises. The fleet, which includes a nuclear-powered submarine and a frigate, is perceived as a demonstration of strength amid ongoing tensions between Moscow and the West over the conflict in Ukraine. The ships are anchored in Havana Bay, approximately 90 miles (145 km) from the Florida coast.

While acknowledging the situation, the Pentagon stated, “We of course take it seriously, but these exercises don’t pose a threat to the United States.” Press secretary Sabrina Singh noted that such activities align with “routine naval visits that we’ve seen under different administrations.”

According to Russia’s defense ministry, the Admiral Gorshkov frigate and the Kazan submarine are equipped with advanced weaponry, including Zircon hypersonic missiles, and had previously conducted missile drills in the Atlantic. However, Cuba’s foreign ministry asserted that none of the vessels carry nuclear weapons, and their five-day visit poses no threat to the region.

US officials are closely monitoring the situation. Reports from CBS, a US partner of the BBC, indicate that the US Navy deployed sea drones to track the Russian ships as they approached Cuba.

The Russian vessels entered Havana Bay early in the morning under overcast skies, accompanied by smaller support ships and were greeted with a 21-gun salute. In a statement, Russia’s defense minister described the visit as unofficial, allowing the crews to “rest and get acquainted with local attractions.”

Historically, Russia has sent warships to Cuba, and the two countries share a longstanding alliance. However, the timing of these exercises is notable due to heightened tensions following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Some interpret this move as a form of saber-rattling by Moscow, conveying a clear message to Washington regarding perceived interference in their sphere of influence.

The visit serves as a significant symbol of support for Cuba’s communist government and its socialist ally, Venezuela, which may be the warships’ next destination after their stay in Havana. While the visit might be considered routine, the broader context of global hostilities is anything but ordinary.

UK Anchor Patrick : Give back Our Kohinoor and $44 trillion You Have Looted From India https://english.thefirenews.com/uk-anchor-patrick-give-back-our-kohinoor-and-44-trillion-you-have-looted-from-india/ https://english.thefirenews.com/uk-anchor-patrick-give-back-our-kohinoor-and-44-trillion-you-have-looted-from-india/#respond Fri, 25 Aug 2023 14:30:40 +0000 https://english.thefirenews.com/?p=1164 India’s triumphant Chandrayaan 3 expedition has sparked a heated exchange on Twitter after a UK-based news UK Anchor Patrick expressed his view that Delhi shouldn’t be seeking foreign assistance following the mission’s triumph. This led to an array of impassioned online users reminding him of the historical £45 trillion that Britain had extracted from India.

UK Anchor Patrick , if you people had not looted India’s money and Kohinoor, then you would not have even had clothes, you would have gone naked

The controversy began when UK Anchor Patrick Christys, a news anchor at GB News in the UK, extended his congratulations to India for its achievement in landing on the dark side of the moon. He then proposed that India consider returning the £2.3 billion in foreign aid it had received between 2016 and 2021.

I want to extend my congratulations to India for their successful lunar landing. In addition, I encourage India to contemplate the return of the £2.3 billion in foreign aid provided from 2016 to 2021.”

He further suggested that British taxpayers should withhold the planned £57 million of foreign aid intended for India in the coming year.

We should reconsider providing financial assistance to countries with advanced space programs. It seems logical that if a country can afford to launch rockets to the dark side of the moon, it shouldn’t need external financial support,” he added.

Reportedly, India has around 29 million people living in poverty, which is the highest number anywhere in the world according to the UN. Despite this, India holds the position of the fifth largest global economy, boasting an annual GDP of $3.75 trillion. This raises the question – why are we providing aid to economically significant India when its own government should address poverty?” he pointed out, also noting that the UK provides foreign aid to China, which also maintains a space program.

Later, he proceeded to list the UK’s foreign aid allocations to other countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

UK Anchor Patrick shared the video clip on Twitter, commenting, “It’s truly puzzling that we continue to allocate foreign aid to some of the world’s wealthiest nations while there are pressing needs at home.

These sentiments resonated with several British citizens. One individual remarked, “India has accomplished a lunar landing, yet it received £2.3 billion in UK aid between 2016 and 2021. This raises concerns about our nation’s priorities.

A Twitter user commented, “Simply deduct that amount from the $44 trillion you profited from India. Please return our Kohinoor diamond as well.

Another person agreed, saying, “The UK should rethink providing aid to nations with advanced space programs that can achieve rocket landings on the far side of the moon.

However, these comments triggered strong reactions from many Indians, who were quick to point out the historical exploitation of over $45 trillion during the colonial era.

A Twitter user commented, “Simply deduct that amount from the $44 trillion you profited from India. Please return our Kohinoor diamond as well.

Another individual reminded UK Anchor Patrick, “We appreciate the aid reminder. Now, in line with your own stance, kindly return the $45 TRILLION that you took from us.

Another individual remind UK Anchor Patrick, "We appreciate the aid reminder. Now, in line with your own stance, kindly return the $45 TRILLION that you took from us.

19-Year-Old Woman Receives Dual Life Sentences https://english.thefirenews.com/19-year-old-woman-receives-dual-life-sentences/ https://english.thefirenews.com/19-year-old-woman-receives-dual-life-sentences/#respond Tue, 22 Aug 2023 04:19:07 +0000 https://english.thefirenews.com/?p=1151 Mackenzie Shirilla, the 19-year-old woman who was convicted of murder for deliberately causing a car collision resulting in the deaths of her boyfriend and his friend in July 2022, has been handed two concurrent life sentences for the double homicides. Judge Nancy Margaret Russo delivered the sentencing, ruling that Shirilla will serve a minimum of 15 years in prison for the dual life sentences. The families of the victims, 20-year-old Domonic Russo and 19-year-old Davion Flanagan, continue to grapple with the profound loss.

Christina Russo, Domonic’s mother, lamented, “Dom and Davion had their futures, hopes, and dreams cruelly stolen. Mackenzie displayed no mercy towards Dom or Davion. Only at this juncture can we entrust her soul to divine mercy.”

During the emotional impact statements provided by the victims’ families, many appealed to the judge for consecutive sentences and urged that Shirilla be sentenced to the maximum term of 30 years to life imprisonment. Judge Russo acknowledged the prevailing pain in the courtroom, stating, “I comprehend the anguish in this room that inclines towards the most severe sentence. Nevertheless, I am of the belief that the harshest sentence would not be fitting, as I remain convinced that Mackenzie will not be released within 15 years.

Shirilla faced charges including four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, drug possession, and possession of criminal tools, as per court records. Last week, she was found guilty on all charges in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Russo emphasized, “Even if Mackenzie had intentions of perishing in the crash, it holds no relevance. An unsuccessful suicide attempt does not absolve the charge of murder.

During the sentencing phase, the prosecution presented arguments that Shirilla displayed no remorse and shared videos of her attending concerts and college parties following the tragedy. Shirilla’s mother revealed that she had encouraged her to attend these events, asserting, “She sought a moment of joy to alleviate her immense grief for losing her entire world. I implore leniency on the grounds that this was a tragic accident she does not recall.

19-year-old Davion Flanagan, and 20-year-old Domonic Russo—had to be extricated from the vehicle. While Shirilla was airlifted to MetroHealth in Cleveland for medical treatment, Flanagan and Russo were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Shirilla herself addressed the court, expressing remorse for the pain she caused. Additionally, the defense submitted letters of good behavior from her time in a juvenile corrections facility prior to the sentencing. “I am profoundly sorry,” Mackenzie Shirilla said. “I am shattered. I cherished Dom and Davion. We were all close friends, and Dom was my kindred spirit. I wish I could alleviate all your suffering, and I deeply apologize.”

The collision transpired on July 31, 2022, shortly after 6 a.m. near the intersection of Progress and Alameda drives. The occupants—Shirilla, 19-year-old Davion Flanagan, and 20-year-old Domonic Russo—had to be extricated from the vehicle. While Shirilla was airlifted to MetroHealth in Cleveland for medical treatment, Flanagan and Russo were pronounced deceased at the scene. Court records affirm that Shirilla “deliberately caused the deaths” of the two teenagers through the vehicle crash.

Former Employees Accuse Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s Company of Securities Law Violations https://english.thefirenews.com/former-employees-accuse-presidential-candidate-vivek-ramaswamys-company-of-securities-law-violations/ https://english.thefirenews.com/former-employees-accuse-presidential-candidate-vivek-ramaswamys-company-of-securities-law-violations/#respond Fri, 18 Aug 2023 19:00:36 +0000 https://english.thefirenews.com/?p=1051 Vivek Ramaswamy, a prominent Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur, is currently facing legal action from two former employees who claim that while working at Strive Asset Management, a company he co-founded, they were subjected to aggressive pressure to violate securities laws. The lawsuits, which have recently come to light via Bloomberg’s reporting, shed light on alleged misconduct within the organization.

Joyce Rosely Lawsuit:

Joyce Rosely, one of the former employees, filed a lawsuit on August 8 in New Jersey against Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive Asset Management, and co-founder Anson Frericks. Rosely’s claims are multi-faceted:

She alleges that she was terminated from her position as co-head of institutional sales after raising concerns about an executive who was reportedly making inappropriate sexual advances towards a junior staff member at the firm. She also voiced concerns about potential violations of securities laws.

Rosely claims that she was coerced by Ramaswamy and Frericks into utilizing sales materials that promised customers future returns, a practice that contravenes securities laws. Additionally, she asserts that unregistered employees were encouraged to make sales pitches to clients, which is also a violation.

She took issue with Ramaswamy’s social media posts, believing they constituted illegal securities sales.

John Phillips Lawsuit

Another former employee, John Phillips, filed a separate lawsuit in June against Vivek Ramaswamy and Strive Asset Management. Phillips’ claims include:

He states that he was enticed to join Strive Asset Management based on misleading assurances that the company possessed robust financing. Moreover, he alleges that Ramaswamy, who subsequently left the company to pursue his presidential campaign, falsely indicated his dedication to the firm.

Phillips contends that Ramaswamy misrepresented the company’s financial health to both employees and investors.

Similar to Rosely, Phillips alleges that he faced pressure from the company to engage in activities that would violate securities laws.

Terminations and Retaliation

Both Rosely and Phillips were terminated from their positions in March. John Phillips asserts that his termination was unjustified, while Rosely’s dismissal was purportedly part of a broader company restructuring aimed at removing older employees. Rosely, in addition to claiming retaliation for misconduct-related complaints, also alleges age discrimination.

Revelation from Rosely’s Complaint

An aspect of Rosely’s complaint revealed that she reported instances of sexual harassment to co-founder Anson Frericks. Allegedly, Frericks dismissed her concerns, stating that the matter was “none of his business.”

Vivek Ramaswamy Significant Insight

Christopher Lenzo, legal counsel for Rosely, has introduced a crucial perspective. Lenzo suggests that Ramaswamy’s primary focus in establishing Strive Asset Management might not have been effective asset management. Instead, he posits that the company could have been primarily established as a public relations tool for Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign, with limited consideration for its functioning as a genuine investment firm.

Vivek Ramaswamy’s  Background

Age : 38
Birthplace : Cincinatti, OH
Residence : Columbus, OH
Previous presidential campaigns : None
Offices held : None
Education : Harvard University (BA), Yale University (JD)

Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur and a conservative commentator who has cast himself as the “true outsider” seeking the GOP nomination. His campaign has been largely self-funded. Ramaswamy has said that he plans to take Trump’s agenda “even further.”

Vivek Ramaswamy known for his accomplishments in the business sector, embarked on a journey into the Republican presidential primary, citing his business acumen and achievements as qualifications for the presidency. He founded Roivant, a pharmaceutical development company, in 2014 and served as its CEO until 2021. Afterward, he co-founded Strive Asset Management with Anson Frericks, with the explicit goal of creating a counter-narrative to the trend of socially and environmentally responsible investing. Despite polling third behind Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign has gained attention, and he is scheduled to participate in an upcoming debate alongside fellow candidates in Wisconsin.

Donald Trump’s Potential Supreme Court Strategy in Legal Battles https://english.thefirenews.com/donald-trumps-potential-supreme-court/ https://english.thefirenews.com/donald-trumps-potential-supreme-court/#respond Fri, 18 Aug 2023 16:01:43 +0000 https://english.thefirenews.com/?p=1039 WASHINGTON : Former President Donald Trump’s might turn to the Supreme Court for help in his legal battles, even though history suggests he might not receive the support he seeks. As Trump and his allies deal with a 41-count indictment in Georgia for their involvement in the 2020 election dispute, experts suggest that Trump could ask the high court to weigh in on several questions related to the case. This might extend to other criminal matters in New York, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

While the ultimate outcomes of these cases are unlikely to reach the Supreme Court, the justices might be asked to determine if two cases should be moved to federal court. There could also be queries about whether Trump and other former federal officials are entitled to immunity. Another potential question is whether efforts to limit Trump’s public comments about his legal issues during the 2024 campaign align with the First Amendment.

Josh Blackman, a professor at South Texas College of Law Houston, anticipated that “SCOTUS ain’t getting off easy here.”

These appeals would coincide with the Supreme Court being closely watched for its decisions on divisive issues like abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. Simultaneously, the court is keen to avoid appearing politically biased and has repeatedly turned down appeals from Trump.

However, whether these efforts succeed might not matter much. Trump’s history shows that he often employs long-shot appeals as a delay strategy. Here’s a closer look at some of the issues that might be appealed:

Seeking Federal Review: It’s expected that Trump will ask a federal court to take over the Georgia case, potentially to secure a more sympathetic jury. President Joe Biden won Fulton County by a large margin in 2020.

A similar request was made in New York, where Trump faces a 34-count indictment from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. A U.S. district judge denied the request, leading Trump to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. This decision could eventually reach the Supreme Court.

Federal Law and Immunity: Federal officials are allowed to move their cases to federal court if the state charges are related to their federal government duties. This principle aims to prevent states from obstructing the federal government by prosecuting its employees. Trump could argue that his election challenge was part of his role as president to safeguard the voting process.

Another claim is based on the Constitution’s supremacy clause, asserting that federal officials are immune from state prosecution when executing their official duties. This argument could draw on an 1890 Supreme Court case involving a U.S. Marshal who shot a man assaulting a justice. The Court ruled the Marshal couldn’t be guilty of a state crime for actions authorized by federal law.

Trump might argue that his actions in Georgia were carried out in his capacity as president. Such arguments could proceed to a lower court ruling, which could be appealed to the federal appeals court, and ultimately to the Supreme Court.

Eric Segall, a law professor at Georgia State University, noted that these laws protecting federal officials from state prosecution serve an essential purpose. However, he questioned whether Trump’s actions would warrant immunity.
